Ratooragh in 2004

Our Home (2004) at Ratooragh near Schull in West Cork is on the North West slope of Mizen Head with a view over Dunmannus Bay and out into the Atlantic Ocean. The loom of the Fastnet Lighthouse can be seen to the south at night. Below is the view in 2010

In 2004 I established the weather station here aimed at collecting wind and solar energy information to see if it was worth using Wind and Solar Energy in due course. Needless to say a Rain Gauge is also an essential item. Is it wetter here compared to Southampton........? Well not by much. We have built the house using an Air to Water Geothermal Heat Pump for heating the house and have Solar Panels for hot water. A great success. However it os not worth using a wind generator at current prices. See the monthly weather summary for more wind data

Graphs of Data for 2005 - 2006. Here.

Here is the Stephenson's Screen I made when I was 12 yrs old now restored to it's former glory and in use as of 2005. The anenometer and solar Radiation sensors are on the tripod, with the Rain Gauge on the right.
I had to include a picture of the choughs investigating the barn. They used it for nesting from 2004 to 2006.
